So, you’re recently engaged and now it’s time to start planning your wedding event. Where to begin? The ceremony of course! The experienced Leigh Florist design team has an easy guide to help you create a romantic atmosphere for that special moment when you share your vows. Below you’ll find the essential recommendations for a special setting every couple is looking for, no matter the theme or budget.

Make An Entrance

As your guests arrive and make their way to your romantic setting, you’ll most likely need a welcome sign to usher them towards their seats. It may seem simple, but it’s the very first visual impact your guests will see when they arrive at the beginning of the evening – why not decorate it with fresh florals or greenery to set the tone for the rest of the evening.

Seating

Make the first row that is reserved for immediate family extra special with sweet florals tied with ribbon at the end of the chairs. A single rose reserved on a memorial seat for a loved parent that passed is also a special detail.

Designing the Aisle

A favorite way to immediately elevate your setting is having the aisle “spring” to life with fresh florals, greenery, or illumination to mark your entrance through the space. Aisle flowers can tell a story to emphasize the mood you are trying to capture – whimsical designs to mirror your personality, classic and elegant designs that stand the test of time, or simple greenery. Petals to line the aisle are also a classic touch, whether they are whimsically thrown by your flower girl or designed in a special shape.

Arch, Chuppah, or Free Standing ?

Depending on your venue, you may know exactly what the backdrop for the ceremony will look like. Or, you may have to create your own creative intimate frame. Free-standing arrangements on elevated pedestals or wine barrels are excellent options for a simpler ceremony.

If you are interested in arches, there is a large variety of shapes and sizes to choose from, consider which one might fit your vision. For more out-the-box event themes, a hexagon or circle arch is a good starting point. The traditional rectangular arch can be styled in a myriad of ways.

Chuppahs are traditionally incorporated into Jewish ceremonies, where the family provides the tallis to cover the top to create a sacred space.

Illumination

Soft illumination can be perfect to create a romantic setting, but it may not be ideal in every setting. If your ceremony is outside, wind plays a major factor in making candles irrelevant and not logical. However, if they are covered by hurricane lanterns or if you use LED flameless candles then you can creatively work around that issue while still looking great.

Fabric

Draping your ceremony arch or chuppah in fabric can be a great way to soften any harsh architecture near the ceremony and create a romantic vibe.

Celebrate your exit as a married couple

Whether it’s rice, bubbles, rose petals, or flower confetti, this tradition is a fun way to include your guests in the fun. Create a petal bar or leave a pre-made cone to toss for your guests to shower you with their love.
